My new thing is skincare. My mom always taught me to take care of my skin, and since moving to Florida, I have had to really take care of my skin. That Florida Sun hit different! I also recently turned 30, and the saying goes Black don’t crack, but honey Light Skin will crinkle if you let it! My everyday skincare routine is pretty simple, with just 3 products, but when Mama wants extra, I do extra. 


The Soothing Primer Oil is what it says, soothing. This stuff is another magical product that does wonders for you. I remember the first time I used it. I was looking in the mirror and pressed the product in my skin, because that's how we apply people! Tehehe... I went to grab my makeup, came back to the mirror, and that fast my face changed! Y’all, I would not lie to you! My face had a nice even looking glow, and my skin looked so plump and happy. The product works great alone, and works perfect under makeup. I recently finished The Whole Woman and all I wanted to do was shout to the world: Read this book! If you’re not a big reader, or it takes you a while to finish a book, no worries. The book is under 200 pages and laid out well with good stopping points. Here’s the thing though, you won’t want to stop! I love books that grab your attention and keep it. With each new subject matter you’ll find yourself leaning in more and more while you read saying, Tell me more, Tell me how! The book’s main audience is single women….what is my married tail doing reading it?


I met one of the authors at an awesome Poetry event. He talked briefly about the book and told us the title, The Whole Woman, I immediately got up to get one and get it signed; because I don’t know about you, but I want to be a whole woman! Although the book may be geared towards single females, the authors, a husband and wife team, tell you, you can apply the teachings to anyone, at any status. This book causes you to take a look at your life and your experiences to see what role it plays in how you feel about yourself, and your interactions with others. I believe every man, woman, and child should read this book, because so many still have brokenness from their past and don’t even realize it. If you want to know what life could be like walking in wholeness instead of brokenness, get the book!

Let me tell you something, my playlist is always on point! I love music and I'm always looking for great new music to play while I’m cleaning haha. What you know about those Black Momma Saturday Mornings?! One night I was watching NPR Tiny Desk Concerts on YouTube, which I highly recommend, and I saw Leslie Odom Jr. Now, it wasn’t until I finished seeing his performance I realized where I saw him from before. He is also an actor, and a part of the great Hamilton everyone is talking about (I haven’t seen yet, so judge me not). When I tell you this man’s voice is perfection, I tell you no lies. I right away went on my phone to find all his music, and I’ve been grooving to his Mr album. From the 1st song, 1st minute, you’ll be like ok, ok, I see you Leslie sir! Now, know this: I only suggest albums that are “no skip” albums, meaning every song is a hit. Take some you time today, and play that Mr album by the amazing, Leslie Odom Jr.

Here it is, the time has come to reveal my biggest kept secret for the month. Whitney White, better known as Naptural85 is the go-to girl for Natural Hair Tutorials, and she created a product line that will save your hair’s life! I’ve been rocking with Whitney since 2009 and she has never stirred me wrong. When I heard about her launch I was beyond excited. I know I’m team late with purchasing, but late to the party just means your entrance is noticed! 


I have three handsome curly haired boys who all have different hair textures. The boys decided they want long hair and so I’ve been having fun twisting and braiding their hair to help it grow healthy and long. I just started back wearing makeup in June. I hadn’t worn foundation since Christmas of 2019! When looking for makeup I decided to research Black Owned companies, and I wanted to give Mented Cosmetics a try, since I heard such good things about them. I’m more of a liquid foundation girl, but wanted to give the stick foundation a try to switch things up.


I took their online shade finding test and am so glad they got my shade correct. I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t sure it was right at first because it seemed too light. Then I realized, no you light Shervyse! Hahaha, I usually bought a darker shade and wasn’t used to a make up that properly picked out the correct undertones in my skin. The foundation glides on and makes your makeup look like moisturized skin. I follow it with a light loose powder, also by Mented Cosmetics, and get a nice matte finish. I would say the product is medium coverage. My favorite thing about the stick foundation being a perfect match, is some days I don’t want a full face of makeup, but have one spot I would like to cover; I just put a dot on the healed blemish (never put makeup on an open blemish) and it looks like my skin. I am shade T20 in the stick foundation and use the Light/Tan loose powder.

Let me tell you my history with Febreze. I remember when it became popular back in the day and my mom bought some. It was cool to use here and there. Then my brother…not gonna say which one….ha… My brother decided Febreze was his solution to not having to clean things properly. He would straight drown his room in Febreze. It got to the point I couldn’t stand the smell and refused to ever buy any of their products. 


Well one day I decided I needed a smell good for my boys room. I usually used warmer units from Bath & Body Works, which worked great until I changed my kids room around, and the unit could be seen by my 2 year old.
